TR18: Triumphant return to Melbourne – and travel plans unfold
18-20 May 2018 is the all-important date to put in your calendar right now for TR18. This year we return to the city where we kicked our first public goal, and the location that so admirably has hosted Technorama twice before.
It’s going to be great to be back in Melbourne, and to meet so many of you who we haven’t seen for a year or two.
As is our tradition, Friday night of Technorama is a social event with something special. This year our welcome function will be hosted by the unique Joy-FM in Melbourne’s CBD. Joy has a long history of technical innovation (remember the award winning clock?) and has a facility worth seeing.
The main event will take place at the Maltese Club in Parkville, just up the road from the CBF on the tramline, and with plenty of parking. Expect a packed program on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th. Program details will be announced later in February, but now is the time to ensure that your station knows and can support you as far as possible. And of course, expect that we will have a number of our vendor-partners joining us.
We already have our main hotel lined up (stand by for booking details) at the outstanding rate of $140/night with breakfast, and there are plenty of nearby rooms starting around $100/night.
Full Hotel, travel, logistics and registration details will be announced in mid-February. But you can expect the registration to be similar to last year, and that means earlybird rate of under $100 all-inclusive for members of Technorama.
Now is the time to start thinking about nominations for the Technorama Awards program, recognising a range of contributions to the sector at a station and personal level.
Victorians and South Australians take note: we want to see you in 2018.
