The Chatswood area is well served by hotels and guest houses, ranging from a few minutes walk to ten minutes drive, and room rates around the $125-165/night mark. There are a few bargains to be had if you don’t mind sharing a room or a bathroom.
Also consider Airbnb which has already worked well for a number of people. Just be sure you’re close to transport!!
The nearest hotels to the Dougherty Community Centre are the Sebel (in Victor Street, literally across the road from the DCC), the Mantra (about seven minutes walk on the other side of the railway line) and the Charrington of Chatswood (a guest house/hotel, just on the other side of the highway). Further down Pacific Highway to the south towards St Leonards there are a number of hotels and motels at reasonable rates, but driving rather than walking distance.
You might also consider accommodation that’s further away, but on the train line. The trains are very frequent, highly reliable, and quick (and will be running: Sydney Transport has no trackwork scheduled for the North Shore Line on TR weekend).
The fastest way to access accommodation for Technorama is via one of the accommodation websites, and it might be worth checking out Trivago, or Wotif. We recommend that you hunt around, since not all deals show up the first time.
Above all, don’t wait too long if you do find a bargain. Prices are not likely to go down.
