Jason Jordan

Today’s corporate world is locked in a false dichotomy: utopian evangelists promise autonomous organisations run by algorithms, while panic-mongers warn that human creativity and professional relevance are obsolete. Both sides are wrong.

In this direct, zero-hype keynote, veteran Western Australian broadcast engineer, software developer, and on-air presenter Jason Jordan dismantles the myths dominating radio boardrooms and community radio committee meetings. Drawing on 35 years behind the microphone (6PR, 96FM, ABC, commercial television) and decades building real-time systems, Jason tackles the contentious debates head-on:

    • The Creativity Illusion: How generative models can produce “art” that fools most punters yet the bulk of it is high-velocity mediocrity. Why delegating human voice and editorial to an LLM alienates audiences and destroys trust – but can still be leveraged with consideration and empathy.
    • The Job Loss Paradox: AI is not coming for your job; it is coming for your administrative drag. The professionals at risk aren’t the ones being out-computed, they are the ones confusing repetitive coordination with irreplaceable domain expertise. Presenters though… it’s not looking good.
    • The Engineering Truth: How to stop chasing bloated AI wrappers and start using pattern engines where they actually belong: eliminating high-friction operational bottlenecks, parsing messy unstructured data, and turning 4-hour administrative burdens into 30-second automated workflows.

Equal parts technical reality check and defence of human craft, this session demonstrates how stripping away operational complexity makes the human element more defensible, not less.

Who Should Attend?

Any one invloved at a communtiy radio station, whether you are a techie, manager, board member, on a committee, involved in day-to-day administration tasks, etc..

Meet the Panel

Jason Jordan is a veteran Western Australian broadcaster, software developer, and technical consultant based in the Great Southern. With a media career spanning over 35 years, Jason brings a rare blend of on-air communication experience and deep technical infrastructure expertise to the discussion of emerging technologies.

Beginning behind the microphone at 101 FM Rockingham in 1989 and stepping into commercial radio that same year at 6IX’s 1080 The Eagle, Jason went on to build a substantial career across major metropolitan radio and television networks. His work as a music and talkback presenter, host, and broadcast professional includes notable stints with 6PR, 96FM, the ABC, and television networks Channel 7, 9, and 10. Most recently, he provides strategic advice both on-air and behind the scenes for regional and community radio stations across Western Australia.

Alongside his broadcast work, Jason is an active software developer and systems builder, designing real-time audio tools, emergency communications platforms, and edge-deployed cloud solutions. He directly integrates modern generative AI models and automation pipelines into production workflows. Rather than treating artificial intelligence as an abstract theory, Jason speaks from the practical frontline, showing professionals how to cut through the industry noise, protect authentic human communication, and deploy practical automation that solves real operational problems.
