In this month’s Technorama Tuesday at 1830 AEST on 16 April we cover two important topics.  Firstly we’re going to give you a sneak preview of the new Technorama website and introduce you to some massive behind-the-scenes work that we think you could use at your station.  Then we talk about one of our favorite topics: keeping you out of trouble!

Teaser Topic:  New-look TR website and tools you can use for your station

About a year ago Technorama cut over to MembershipWorks, a cloud-based membership system that is tightly integrated with WordPress.  It’s made a huge difference to managing our member base.

Now we’re announcing a revamped website, and new functions enabled through MembershipWorks, like online classified ads (user-managed) and member-only benefits (such as our library of manuals and other important data).

Main topic:  How long since your station did a disaster plan?

This month we remind you about how important it is to have a Plan B.  This is what you do when the day-to-day Plan A that runs your station suddenly doesn’t run your station.

What’s a disaster?   It could be a natural disaster: too much rain.  A bush fire.  It could also be man-made or consequential: no power for a week.  A wastebasket fire.  Or it could be deliberate attack: the big burglary or cyber-attack.

Any or all of those could happen at any time.  It’s only a disaster when you don’t have a documented plan for what happens next.

Litmus test: when things go wrong, do your listeners notice?  Or have you protected the station so well that the water flies off your duck’s back?

Strike while the iron is cold:  Technorama to the rescue!

Next Tuesday 16 April, join us as we introduce Jason Xiros:  professional project manager, Technical Writer, and Technorama Member.  Jason is going to introduce the topic of BCDR, and give you some really good tips on how to get started with the plan you have to have – and how to document the plan so that it becomes a reality when the chips are down.

You can’t afford to miss this session.

So what next?

Are Technorama Tuesdays open to everyone to attend?

Absolutely.   Doesn’t matter if you’re a raw beginner or seasoned technologist, there’s something for everyone.  We never charge for our technology webinars, and the registration links will be via this page and the CMTO website.

So put the dates in your diary, bookmark this page, and come back to the site as each date gets closer.
