As a group, technologists are really good at doing so many things. But equally, as a group, we are very bad at one thing in particular: claiming credit and being recognised. That’s such a pity because because it’s important for our colleagues to know what it takes to keep them on the air. And when things work perfectly, and nobody sees what that took, nobody gets thanked.
Right now you have until Monday 31 July to get yourself or a colleague into running for this year’s CBAA awards.
What awards are available?
There are two technologist-related awards up for grabs this year:
- Excellence in Technical Services: recognising the support contribution of a technologist or team. The offline form and description for the category is here.
- Excellence in Technical Innovation: recognising technology approach taken by a technologist or team. The offline form and description for the category is here.
Is it hard to apply?
No it isn’t, but you do need to follow the steps. Fortunately, that’s all covered in the CBAA Conference Awards page. Just follow the How To Enter instructions at the bottom of the page (which we’ve tested, and they work).
Note that to apply you will need to set up an awards userid (or already have one), which is an easy process. You don’t need your station’s permission to apply. Just like applying for a grant, your responses will need to convince the judges that your nominee is the outstanding person who should win because… well, it’s obvious!
If I have questions, what do I do?
If you have any problems, we’ll give you a hand if you post a question to the Technorama Q&A group CBAA Awards 2023 topic.
Start your application now, and good luck!
